XXVI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE «OIL AND GAS OF TURKMENISTAN-2021» STARTED ITS WORK IN ASHGABAT
On October 27, the XXVI International Conference «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2021» (OGT-2021), dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the country, started its work in Ashgabat in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in a hybrid format.
The objective of this annual prestigious business forum, which contributes to strengthening and developing cooperation between foreign partners with Turkmenistan in the oil and gas industry, is to strengthen the dialogue on the further sustainable development of energy sector, review the latest trends in global energy system and expand opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan.
As noted in the Presidential Address to the Conference participants, in the years of independence, the oil and gas industry has become one of the priority directions of economic development of the country. The activities carried out as part of the energy strategy of the state to use the hydrocarbon resources of the country for the benefit of Turkmenistan and other nations have produced positive results. In his message, the head of state also noted that, as one of the countries that exports large amounts of energy resources, Turkmenistan is a supporter of creating stable international systems of transportation of these resources to other countries.
The organizers of this prestigious forum are «Turkmengaz», «Turkmennebit» State Concerns and «Turkmengeologiya» State Corporation in partnership with «Turkmen Forum» ES, «TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd», «NaPeCo» with the support of «GaffneyCline» and «SOCAR» companies.
The high-level conference that will last until October 28 is attended by heads and representatives of government agencies of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in the country, journalists from local and foreign mass media. Representatives of nearly 100 leading oil and gas companies of the world, the largest international organizations and banks from 32 countries are also participating in the forum via videoconference.
Along with participants from the Turkmen side, among the speakers of the current specialized conference are Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Secretary General of OPEC, Chairman of the Global Gas Centre and CEO of «GAZNAT SA», President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Presidents of «CNPC», «Lukoil», «ARETI» companies, Chief Executive Officers of «Dragon Oil», «PETRONAS» and «SOCAR Trading SA» companies, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Turkmenistan, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, EU and OSCE Ambassadors in Turkmenistan, Director of ADB Resident Mission in Turkmenistan, foreign experts and scientists, as well as other company representatives.
During the conference such issues were discussed as the future of energy, the implementation of major regional projects, including the construction of the TAPI pipeline, the prospects for new gas chemical projects, an overview on onshore and offshore investment opportunities, global trends in the fuel and energy sector, the prospects for development of the world’s largest gas field Galkynysh, and the role of natural gas in the transition to clean energy.
The conference featured presentations and panel sessions to share experiences and inform participants about the status of key projects being implemented in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan.
