Air Belgium prepares to launch cargo air transport operations via Ashgabat

Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov visited the headquarters of Air Belgium, where he met with Mr. Georges Chachati, CEO of Air Belgium.

They discussed the outcomes of Mr. Chachati’s recent productive visit to Turkmenistan, during which he held talks with the leadership of the country’s transport sector. As a result of his visit to Turkmenistan, an agreement was signed on the launch of cargo air transport operations through Ashgabat International Airport.

Special attention was paid to the practical aspects of the upcoming launch of cargo flights, as well as to technical details related to the organization of this process. The parties also discussed the possibility of holding a symbolic ceremony to mark the first launch of cargo flights, which is expected to take place in early August of this year.

Mr. Georges Chachati underlined the important role of Ashgabat International Airport from a logistical and transport perspective. It was noted that Ashgabat Airport offers the necessary conditions for stable, safe & efficient cargo flight operations, including refuelling and technical support services. The attractive conditions offered by Turkmenistan for international air carriers and logistics operators were also highlighted.

For his part, the Ambassador emphasized that Turkmenistan continues to strengthen its role as a stable, safe & cooperation-oriented link in the transport chain between Asia and Europe. It was noted that the development of air logistics is an important part of the country’s broader strategy to expand international transport connectivity and diversify cargo transportation routes.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of cooperation and confirmed their mutual interest in the practical implementation of the agreements reached. 

Turkmenistan will continue its consistent efforts to attract more international cargo carriers, serving as a reliable, safe &, most importantly, transparent transport bridge between continents.
