Turkmenistan’s experience in migration management presented at an International Seminar in Brussels
A two-day international seminar on labour migration was held in Brussels within the framework of the Prague Process. The event brought together representatives of relevant government institutions, international organizations, and European Union bodies, including the European Commission and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The gathering focused on discussing current trends and practical instruments for managing labour and legal migration, as well as exchanging experiences among participating countries.
Representatives of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan joined in the seminar. During thematic sessions and roundtable discussions, the Turkmen experts presented national practices in regulating migration processes, with particular emphasis on the introduction of innovative approaches and the development of digital solutions in migration administration.
Participants were informed about the ongoing modernization of Turkmenistan’s migration infrastructure, including the expansion of electronic services, the strengthening of interagency cooperation, and the improvement of data exchange mechanisms between state institutions. These efforts aim to ensure greater transparency of procedures, enhance the quality of public services, and further improve the effectiveness of migration management.
During the discussions, experts and representatives of participating countries positively noted the level of institutional development of Turkmenistan’s migration system. It was emphasized that the national system demonstrates a high degree of internal coordination, while the efficient exchange of information among relevant authorities contributes to timely responses to contemporary migration challenges.
The seminar also served as an important platform for professional dialogue on the development of legal channels for labour mobility, the expansion of international cooperation, and the improvement of mechanisms for the recognition of qualifications. Participants discussed potential avenues for future cooperation and exchanged best practices in the field of migration management.
Turkmenistan supports the active development of partnership relations with European countries and international organizations, which facilitates the use of advanced international experience and contributes to the further improvement of the country’s national migration policy.
