The Vice-President of the European Commission recently embarked on a visit to Turkmenistan. This high-level trip was marked by his esteemed meetings with the President and the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, signifying a noteworthy step in fostering and strengthening the relations between the EU and Turkmenistan.

M.Schinas conveyed greetings from the leadership of the European Union to the head of Turkmenistan, expressing interest in expanding the dialogue with Turkmenistan.

The President expressed confidence that the upcoming negotiations between the Vice-President of the EC in Ashgabat and Turkmen colleagues will provide an opportunity to discuss promising areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.

During the meeting, the head of state stated that projects such as “Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia (SECCA)”, “Dialogue and Action for Resourceful Youth in Central Asia (DARYA)”, and the Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia (BOMCA-10), the Central Asia Drug Prevention Program (CADAP) are being successfully implemented at the regional level.

At the same time, it was emphasized that currently leading European companies are represented in various sectors of the Turkmen economy - in the oil and gas complex, electric power industry, construction, communications and communications.

As part of the discussion of new ways of interaction in key areas, the President of Turkmenistan focused on the importance of the upcoming EU-Central Asia investment forum on sustainable transport in Brussels at the end of January this year. In this context, Turkmenistan’s readiness to take part in the forum was confirmed, given that the transport and logistics sector is one of the promising areas of cooperation, and the upcoming forum will provide an opportunity to transform the Trans-Caspian transport corridor connecting Central Asia and Europe into a multimodal, modern, stable and express route.

At the end of the meeting, M.Schinas emphasized that the implementation by the European Union of new approaches to partnership with our country is a solid basis for effective joint activities.
