The first state visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Kazakhstan has begun today.
The Turkmen leader was welcomed by the head of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda Palace.
By tradition, in honor of the visit of the distinguished guest, a guard of honor was built in the hall of ceremonies. The Presidential Orchestra performed the national anthems of the two countries.
After the official ceremony of meeting and photographing in front of the national flags of the two countries, negotiations between Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev began in a narrow format.
Then an expanded meeting of the government delegations of the two countries is planned, after which the signing of bilateral documents is expected.
It is also envisaged that the heads of state will address the press, in which the results of the summit talks will be summed up.
Prior to the official start of the state visit to Kazakhstan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Central Asia–Russia summit held in Astana the day before.
