MEETING WITH THE UNDP REPRESENTATIVE IN TURKMENISTAN

On the 10th of August 2021, a meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the UNDP Resident Representative a.i. in Turkmenistan Natia Natsvlishvili, who is completing her mission in Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties noted with consent the constructiveness of partnership of the Government of Turkmenistan with the UN Development Programme that has started back in 1995. Analyzing the joint achievements in the past years, as well as viewing the common work in the recent month, the interlocutors underlined the efficiency of cooperation, including in such areas as administration, economic diversification, healthcare and ecology.    

It was stated that being an active UN agency in the field of development, the UNDP provides expert assistance to the Turkmen side in the process of attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, including the transition to the green economy, sustainable agriculture, digitalization, as well as the enhancement of the social security system, access to the inclusive medical services and others.      

 The important role of the UNDP in the development of national programmes and strategies in the field of human rights, gender equality, prevention of acute diseases, as well as the climate change was underlined.  The UNDP Country Programme for Turkmenistan for the period of 2021-2025 was successfully developed and adopted.     

Thanking for kind words and wishes, as well as the high appraisal of her work in Turkmenistan, Ms. Natsvlishvili expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for effective cooperation and assistance to the work of the UNDP in Turkmenistan.
