Brussels meeting reviews progress in EU-Central Asia Summit follow-up

In Brussels, the process of implementing the agreements reached following the European Union-Central Asia Summit was reviewed with the participation of Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service, Eduards Stiprais, EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Charlotte Adriaen, Head of Division at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), as well as the Ambassadors of Central Asian countries accredited to the European Union.

Officials of the European External Action Service provided an overview of recent political developments in the region and outlined next steps in advancing the Summit follow-up process, including preparations for the upcoming EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting.

Eduards Stiprais briefed participants on his recent outreach activities across Central Asia, highlighting the intensification of political dialogue and the growing engagement at the practical level.

The European Commission presented an update on the progress in implementing agreed Summit deliverables, with particular focus on concrete projects in Central Asia. These include initiatives in transport connectivity, sustainable infrastructure, energy, climate action, critical raw materials, as well as digitalization and the deployment of modern technological solutions across sectors.

The Ambassadors of Central Asian countries shared national perspectives and ongoing initiatives, emphasizing the importance of delivering tangible results on the ground, including infrastructure development, regional connectivity, and investment-driven projects.

Participants also exchanged information on upcoming bilateral formats, including Cooperation Councils and sectoral committees, aimed at ensuring a structured and consistent advancement of the EU-Central Asia agenda.

The meeting confirmed a shared commitment to maintaining the current positive momentum and to further focusing efforts on the practical implementation of agreed initiatives, with a view to achieving concrete and mutually beneficial outcomes.
