Working visit of President of the Republic of Tatarstan to Turkmenistan
On December 7, 2015 in the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
After the official ceremony of photographing on the background of the state flags of Turkmenistan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, the talks between the leader of Turkmenistan and distinguished guest was held in the hall for bilateral meetings.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated with satisfaction the high level of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue that bears a strategic character. The Head of State stressed that at a recent meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Summit of the Heads of States of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF), it was noted that between Turkmenistan and the largest Russian entities - the Republic of Tatarstan, the Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk regions, the city of St. Petersburg, other regions of the Russian Federation established close cooperation in various fields. Taking this opportunity, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for the support of cooperation with Russian regions and handed in their address warm greetings and best wishes.
Thanking the Turkmen leader for the warm welcome, President Rustam Minnikhanov said that he was very pleased to be back in Ashgabat, congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and in his person the Turkmen people on the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's status of permanent neutrality.
The sides identified as the priority areas of cooperation the energy sector, the trade and economic sphere, agriculture and tourism. Speaking about the importance of strengthening the productive relations in the field of mechanical engineering, energy and industrial complex, the President and the distinguished guest expressed the need for efficient use of available reserves.
One of the topics of the meeting was cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, between scientific and educational centers. The two sides called for expansion of ties between the traditional cultures. Actual direction of bilateral relations in the context of preparing for the Asian Games in 2017 was named the field of sport. The Head of State thanked President Rustam Minnikhanov for organizing consultations of prominent masters of sports of Tatarstan for Turkmen specialists.
After the meeting in honor of the distinguished guest the President of Turkmenistan hosted an official dinner.
Prior to the talks, President Rustam Minnikhanov has laid a wreath at the Monument of Neutrality in Ashgabat.
Upon completion of the program of the working visit, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan headed for the capital's international airport and departed from Ashgabat.
