Ambassador of Turkmenistan holds meeting with Chair of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights

Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov met with Mr. Mounir Satouri, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI).

The discussion focused primarily on cooperation in the field of human rights and on further developing dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union in this area. Both sides highlighted the importance of maintaining an open, constructive, and respectful exchange, taking into account national specificities and development paths.

The Ambassador underlined that Turkmenistan views human rights as an integral part of its state policy, with particular emphasis on ensuring social protection and improving the well-being of its population. In this context, he highlighted the role of state programmes and national action plans aimed at advancing social development and enhancing living standards.

It was noted that an interagency coordination mechanism is in place in Turkmenistan, ensuring the involvement of a wide range of state institutions in implementing humanitarian policies. The Turkmen diplomat also emphasized the importance of practical cooperation with international organizations, including engagement with the International Labour Organization, which contributes to transparency and the exchange of best practices.

Both sides expressed their interest in continuing the dialogue through regular contacts, expert-level exchanges, and potential visits, with a focus on achieving tangible results and strengthening mutual understanding.

The meeting concluded with a shared readiness to further develop constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in the humanitarian field.
