Ashgabat hosts international conference on environmental problems in hydrocarbon development
The International Scientific Conference "Energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects of the development of hydrocarbon deposits" was held in Ashgabad in a hybrid format at the Yagshigeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas.
Over 800 delegates from 20 countries took part in the forum. Those are representatives of international organizations, financial institutions and companies operating in the oil and gas sector. The participants discussed the issues of methane and CO2 emissions reduction in hydrocarbon production, new technologies in the energy sector, as well as the possibility of additional financing of this industry and initiatives to promote "green" energy.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of adopting a road map for Turkmenistan to study the possibility of joining the Global Methane Emission Reduction Commitment, which envisages a 30 percent reduction of methane emissions by 2030.
