LANDMARKS OF THE TURKMEN-JAPANESE INTER-PARLIAMENTARY PARTNERSHIP DISCUSSED IN TOKYO
On December 23, 2022, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian states met with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the countries of Central Asia and Japan, Taro Aso, in the Parliament of Japan.
During the meeting, it was noted that inter-parliamentary relations are one of the key areas for expanding partnership between Central Asia and Japan. At the same time, a striking example of active inter-parliamentary cooperation is regular contacts and meetings of parliamentary friendship groups.
The relevance of the initiative of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, announced during his visit to Japan in September this year to hold the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries and Japan in Ashgabat next year, was indicated.
On the same day, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan met with the chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen inter-parliamentary friendship group Toshiaki Endo.
Noting the significant role that parliamentary diplomacy has acquired in recent years, the proposals and initiatives put forward by the Chairman of the Upper House of the Turkmen Parliament in order to further develop inter-parliamentary partnership were discussed.
