The Turkmen President pays an official visit to the United Arab Emirates
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a two-day official visit on Monday, held talks in Abu Dhabi with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the extended format talks, the sides specified the priority areas of the Turkmen-Emirati partnership, taking into account current realities and prospects, the official Turkmen media reports.
At the same time, the parties expressed the readiness of Turkmenistan and the UAE to intensify productive trade-economic cooperation, business ties and cultural-humanitarian contacts.
During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov invited the Emirati companies to participate in smart city projects in Turkmenistan – the constructions of the new administrative center of Ahal province and the Ashgabat city.
Following the talks in the extended format, the ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held with the participation of Presidents of Turkmenistan and the UAE. The sides also adopted a Joint Statement of Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates on the outcome of the talks.
According to the Joint Statement, the parties, noting the importance of cooperation in the economic sphere, expressed the desire to strengthen economic cooperation taking into account mutual interests, discussed prospects in this direction, and also declared their intention to increase joint efforts in such priority areas as oil and gas, oil refining, chemical industry and renewable energy. The two sides will also assist entrepreneurs of the two countries in implementing joint projects to strengthen the investment partnership.
The Heads of the countries then held a one-on-one meeting. The Presidents reaffirmed the mutual desire of the countries to bring the bilateral partnership to a qualitatively new level.
The summit talks discussed matters related to the implementation of bilateral agreements. In this context, the sides underscored the significance of the package of documents signed today. The parties also exchanged views on a number of topical issues of regional and global agenda of mutual interest. At the end of the meeting, the Heads of State expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiations.
