The Turkmen Foreign Minister paid a visit to France

From September 4th to 5th, 2023, Rashid Meredov, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, was on a working visit to France. The meetings were of a high caliber, involving the Diplomatic Advisor to the French President, Bertrand Buchwalter, and several leading figures from the French business community.

During the talks, representatives from Turkmenistan and France discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of international organizations.

Both sides expressed interest in further developing relations in parliamentary, political, diplomatic, economic, scientific, educational, and cultural spheres.

At a business roundtable, the Turkmen delegation introduced French business representatives to the key directions of economic development and the investment potential of Turkmenistan.

Participants shared views on activating and expanding Turkmen-French cooperation in trade, economics, energy, agriculture, and other areas of bilateral interaction.

Promising vectors of partnership identified included the oil and gas sectors, petrochemicals, power generation, transportation and communications, medical industry and pharmaceuticals, financial and banking sectors, as well as water management systems.

Additionally, during the visit to Paris, members of the Turkmen delegation conducted several bilateral talks with heads and representatives of various state structures, as well as French companies.

A notable event on Tuesday was the meeting with Catherine Colonna, France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Discussions centered on expanding political and economic ties, along with current regional and international topics. Special attention was given to environmental, energy, and infrastructure projects.

The parties focused on topics of mutual interest, especially those related to reducing methane emissions and managing water resources.

The importance of stability in Central Asia and Turkmenistan's role in upholding the international order was emphasized. Concluding the visit, a cooperation program for 2024-2026 was signed, along with a declaration of intentions in the field of education.
